what on earth ...
After a tough (yet satisfyingly productive) day at work, I came home at around 2AM, to try and get a few hours of sleep before going back for an early meeting tomorrow.
They had shut down the water at the building today (... again) for repairs. I knew cuz there wasn't any water when I left in the morning.
I saw a note on my door when I was entering the flat. Wasn't really going to read it since I had seen quite a few unimportant notes there before, but thought what the heck, let's see what this is about.
It was a notice, saying people had entered my flat today. Hmm ... for 'emergency flood/leakage damage repair'!!!!!! As I was thinking what the deuce, I felt the soaking-wet rug under my feet, and I looked around to discover stuff in my living room had been moved around. Mostly my speakers and electrical stuff had apparently been put away from the water, and all the plugs had been pulled out. I discovered another rug in my bath-tub, totally wet. The floor was dry otherwise, but there were suspicious water stains on my toilet. I cannot begin to imagine where the water might have come from. Because other parts of the house are surprisingly dry.
Anyway, it's sort of distressful, cuz I have no idea of finding out right now what the hell happened in my apartment. Gotta wait til the morning. And I'm not sure whether I'm more distressed about the fact that it flooded or the fact that there were people in my place throwing stuff around. Anyway, will find out tomorrow.
update: well, turns out some retarded monkey two floors above me had left his water tap open (remember? no water that morning) and then decided it was a good day to leave town!!! So, his flat floods like crazy. I'm still not sure how and from where all that water came to mine, two floors beneath him. Apparently our walls are like sponges or something. Anyway, I'm pretty pissed. My speakers got all wet and don't look nice and shiney anymore. The rug underneath my big-ass TV is still soaking wet, and I can't take it out of there. And apparently a blow-dryer isn't the best tool for drying rugs, even if you leave it on for hours and point it exactly towards the rug. So ... yeah, life's bitchin'!
update
Hmmm, well so much for travelogs. It's been a while that I've been back in Toronto. Things are a little rough with all the work that I'm doing and gotta do for the next couple of months, but I'm actually sort of looking forward to it.
There's so much to write about the trip, but writing it now would feel dated, plus I'm too lazy. You can at least check out some pictures from the trip on the photoblog.
Speaking of which, the dome picture got a noteworthy vote on photofriday, which is sort of exciting.
What else? I saw a couple of movies last week; Amores Perros (totally over-rated) and the Jacket (way under-rated). Moral of the story is, don't trust the reviews.
